 Amman, 14 May 2008 - Governmental and Civil Society Organizations in Zarqa Discuss their Governorate’s Development Priorities

A series of workshops is currently underway in Zarqa Governorate as part of the “Localization of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the Governorate of Zarqa” project, implemented by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MoPIC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in cooperation with the Governorate of Zarqa.

 Amman, 11 May 2008 - Aqaba Millennium Development Goals Report Launched Today

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) together with Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) and Ministry of Planning & International Cooperation launched today in Aqaba “The Millennium Development Goals Report for Aqaba”. 

 Amman, 7 May 2008 - The first in the Arab region at a governorate’s level, the release of the Millennium Development Goals Report for Aqaba next Sunday

The MDG Report for Aqaba is the first of its kind to track the MDGs at the Governorate level, not only in Jordan, but also in the entire Arab region. It is the result of the active participation of the specialized governmental institutions, the different NGOs in the Aqaba governorate and ASEZA, in cooperation with UNDP Jordan and UNDP’s Capacity 2015 Regional Programme for Arab States.

Amman, 5 May 2008 - “World Press Freedom Day” celebrated annually on 3 May is a reminder of the importance of protecting the fundamental human rights of freedom of expression and freedom of the press as enshrined in Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, whose its 60th anniversary is celebrated this year.
 Amman, 24 April 2008 – European Commission Sign Agreement to Demine Jordan-Syrian Border
The European Commission and United Nations Development Programme signed today an agreement to support the mine clearance along the border between Jordan and Syria. Present at the ceremony was also His Royal Highness Prince Mired, Chairperson of the National Committee for Demining and Rehabilitation (NCDR) and Her Excellency Suhair Al Ali, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation.
 Amman, 23 April 2007 Global Environment Facility/ Small Grants Programme (GEF SGP) funds two projects to protect environment in Jordan

Two grant agreements totaling US$ 94,000 to support environmental projects by non-government organizations were signed on 17 April 2008 by Mr. Luc Stevens the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative in Jordan, and representatives of the concerned organizations.

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Jordan will locally launch the Human Development Report 2007/2008 next Sunday, 16 December 2007. 
The event will be under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal, UNDP Honourary Human Development Ambassador.
